After I graduated, I tried to apply for the Education Program at University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus. But I did not meet the English requirement, so I decided to go to work at Thompson Rivers University as the Indigenous Mentor Communications Coordinator. This program was created to help Indigenous stay in University, because they seen a huge dropout rate in Indigenous students. The reason is they did not feel like the belong. So, I supported and supervised 6 university students who supported the first-year university students. I loved this job because I was able to help support students and I understood what it was like to struggle during my first year of university and if it was not for some family and friends I don’t think I would have passed my undergraduate.
